Overview

Core modules are the heart of every SOMANET node. The SOMANET Core C2X module features one dual-core SOMANET C2X SoC processor and 16 deterministic real-time hardware threads while consuming less than 1 Watt.

On-board peripherals

The SOMANET Core C2X features Serial EEPROM, watchdog, real-time clock, temperature sensor and a freely programmable RGB LED.

Power Supply

If you are combining a Core C2X with a Drive or IO board, it is generally required to supply your SOMANET device through the Drive or IO board. Nevertheless, if there is no such a module in your device, or your application simply requires it, you can directly supply your Core C2X with 5V through its power connector. For this reason the C2X offers Auxiliary Power Pads. Optionally, these pads are equipped with a Molex Flexi-Mate receptacle (Molex Part-# 503471-0200). In this case, use Molex Flexi-Mate housing and crimp terminals (Molex Part-# 503473-0200 and 503485-0000) to connect.

Note

It is not recommended to supply a Core module from its auxiliary 5 V connector if it is mounted on a Drive 1000 due to stress on the dual-supply chips.

Programming the Board

The Core C2X can be programmed and debugged using XTAG3 JTAG devices by XMOS Ltd. To connect the XTAG3 to the Core C2X you must use a SOMANET Debug Adaptor and the SOMANET C2X Debug Cable (included with the Debug Adaptor).
