Overview

SOMANET Com Ethernet offers state of the art Ethernet technology for communication within a SOMANET-based system. Being IEE1588 PTP (precision time protocol) compliant, it is a future-proof choice that enables deterministic Ethernet communication. It is compatible with a range of industrial Ethernet technologies, such as POWERLINK or PROFINET-RT and in conjunction with SOMANET Core modules and open-source protocol stacks enables to switch the industrial bus by software, using the same hardware. Com Ethernet comprises Ethernet transceivers and magnetics on-board and provides signaling over common 100BASE-TX distances using SFTP cables.

The board’s main components are the SOMANET Com Core Connector and two Ethernet Ports. Each port combines an Ethernet transceiver, Ethernet magnetics and an Ethernet connector.

* 25MHz clock generated on Core C22. Make sure jumper on C22 is set correctly. The connector type used is Hirose DF40 80-pin, with the header (DF40C-80DP-0.4V(51)) on the Core module side and the receptacle (DF40HC(4.0)-80DS-0.4V(51)) on the Com side. The Process Data Interface is used to communicate with the SOMANET Core. Table 3 is showing the connector pin mapping between SOMANET Com Ethernet and SOMANET Core modules.
