Overview

Communication modules (Com) equip those Nodes with various types of network links. The Com Serial is the first choice when it comes to using CAN technology for communication in combination with LIN and RS-485 serial communications within a SOMANET-based network. Due to the modular characteristics of SOMANET Nodes, Com modules can be configured with various processing units as well as Drive or IO modules. In combination with the open-source SOMANET firmware components, Com modules are the most flexible communication solution for real time applications available in the market. This document covers the hardware aspects of Com Serial only. Please refer to Synapticon DYNARC software documentation for all functional motor control aspects like sensor interface driver modules, commutation types and control loops.

LIN Interface

SOMANET Com Serial boards uses by default 3.3 V from the Core board. However, in order to use LIN communication, 12V are required. Hence please use an external source the feed the board with that Voltage.

To enable the MASTER hardware configuration, it’s necessary to drive “high” the port P1F0 by software. A green LED is placed on the board next to the connector in order to differentiate the Master node.
